r u r a l r e c r e a t i o n is
a grassroots campaigning body set up to put forward new social visions
of the rural, exploring
what the rural means to people in the countryside, to
people
in the cities, suburbs and subrurs.
We’re
particularly interested in expanding the borders of accessibility,
environmentalism & inclusivity and do so through action
research
projects, both without
and
with authority, community and agency. Follow

Wide
Open Space is an initiative of the Dorset Design and Heritage
Forum, curated by Alex Murdin which aims to develop a
programme of strategic public art projects at the
forefront of a new rural cultural agenda. Artists involved include
Michael Pinsky, London Fieldworks, Anna Best, Simon Pirie and
ZMMA architects. Project info here.
A
conference looking at the
contribution of artists, architects and designers to public and private
places
and spaces at a time of radical change for rural counties and their
communities.
Key themes of the conference were: Localism, enabling
community planning and
enhancing housing projects; creating
new,
intergenerational, common spaces in the countryside; enhancing
sensitive
landscapes/roadscapes and relational infrastructure; tourism, heritage
interpretation and public space in market towns and villages.

Bolt, Stephen Ratcliffe - includes Art by Committee gameshow by The
